1969 PONTIAC CATALINA CONVERTIBLE - IN IT'S ORIGINAL CONDITION

Though sometimes overlooked inthe excitement of Pontiac smaller models, Pontiac built some of Detroit's best looking and best handling standard cars in the sixties. The public loved them. Sales jumped from about 400,000 units for 1960 to nearly half a million by '69. On a divisional basis, Pontiac ran third to Chevrolet and Ford for 1962 - 70., and these big cars had a lot to do with it. The 1969 Pontiac lineup started with the Firebird, then Tempest, Tempest Custom, LeMans, Tempest Safari wagons, Tempest G.T.O., Catalina, Executive, Bonneville, and the Grand Prix. The base large Pontiac, Catalina came in a four door sedan, hardtop coupe and sedans, a six or nine passenger station wagons, and this convertible coupe. This original convertible is only 1 of 5,436 built and had a base price of $ 3,476. The only engine for the Catalina model is a 400 cube V8 with 290 horsepower. However, that 400 engine was also implanted in Firebirds, with or without Ram Air, and the GTO, and Grand Prix - all with more ascending horsepowers. This convertible with it's original condition could use a repaint, but the chrome trim, bumpers, convertible top and interior are relatively good condition. With only just over 5,400 of the Catalina convertibles built, this is a rare car seen today. Thanks for viewing.
