Rare: MBTA Train on the Hanover Branch - Abington, MA

Описание к видео Rare: MBTA Train on the Hanover Branch - Abington, MA

On July 10 and 11, 2022 the MBTA ran two extras to move two old damaged passenger coaches from Middleboro, MA to Abington, MA. The cars a rumored to be part of a movie set although I don't have much info on that. To make the move happen the MBTA pulled the damaged cars to Abington where they were placed on a passing siding but the next day the cars were moved over to the MOW track. Historically the MOW track was the beginning of the Hanover, MA branch line that was abandoned in the 1980's(?). As part of the 1990's commuter rail restoration through this area the beginning of the line was rebuilt for MOW use so a few hundred feet of the original branch line still survives. With the track being a MOW track, full sized trains very rarely operate over it but to facilitate this move a commuter rail train set was used and operated over the track. This was the first full sized train to run on this track in years although I can't pinpoint when the last train was exactly.
