S&D and Apache Interview for Canal+ France 1991

Описание к видео S&D and Apache Interview for Canal+ France 1991

Following on from the story and video we posted a couple of weeks ago about how the whole Apache Indian thing started, here’s another video which tells a bit more of the story.

Soon after it all kicked off we started getting a lot of requests from around the world to do TV and Radio interviews. We’ve located some of these. This one was for French TV station Canal+. A film crew flew over to interview us. This film was never broadcast in the UK.

The clip shows rapper Mc Chand (aka Mr Singh - the comedy voice on the original advert) sitting outside the studio we built in the garage at the back of our parents house in Handsworth Wood, and shows us producing a Hip Hop track for him (This is where we took the footage from for the last video we posted).

There are interviews with me, Diamond and Apache, a rare interview with legendary record shop owner Don Christie where he talks briefly about why the records we made were successful, and some shots from inside the store. This was the store we took that first box of 25 records to :-)

There are a few words from Drummie Zeb, drummer and vocalist with Aswad, and some great footage of Birmingham from back then. There’s also live footage of Apache (with his young son on stage) as well as shots in the studio recording vocals on Chok There.

We love hearing your stories and memories from back then so feel free to share them with us!

Wishing you all a very happy new year and beyond :-)
