"Dendron is an open-source, local-first, markdown-based, note-taking tool built on top of VSCode.

Traditional note-taking tools are often too rigid by having an in-flexible hierarchy that doesn’t let you file a note in multiple places. Newer tools are too flexible by eschewing hierarchies altogether in favour of relying solely on backlinks."

Dendron tried to find the mid-point between these two structures and I think the developer has managed to achieve a phenomenal note taking tool - hats off to you!

This is what makes this app so good to use. Notes are stored locally and are mine, I can actually see the .md (markdown) file.

There is a learning curve to getting to know Dendron, but I find it a little like Excel - once you are in and tame the beast, it is hard to get out. In this video and the next upcoming videos I will try to breakdown Dendron in byte sized nuggets of information so that anyone picking this up can try to use it.
