Today we are exploring the Girard-Perrgaux Vintage 1945 XXL Chronograph. This piece is a homage to the non-round vintage pieces of the 1940s. At the same time, it is contemporary in its size, fit, finishing, and specifications. It truly lives up to its name with its large case size, measuring 52.5mm from lug to lug. It curves nicely around the wrist but is thicker than its looks at 14mm. The case is polished smooth with a stepped bezel.

This piece is paired with a substantial Girard-Perregaux alligator leather strap that is sculpted to match the flank of the case. The seamless, integrated strap thins out and can easily be worn on a smaller wrist. A single-fold deployment clasp finishes the watch.

The dial of the watch is undoubtably the highlight. From top to bottom, the dial features a dramatic satin grain. A traditional rail-road style minutes and seconds track outlines the dial. Highly stylized, art deco arabic numerals add to the aesthetic of the piece. In addition, two counter-sunk sub-registers add symmetry to this piece.

An exhibition case back covers a Girard-Perregaux manufacturer caliber 3300-0058. This unidrtectectional winding, automatic piece has a 46 hour power reserve and chronograph functionality.
