Stormwater Retention Pond Earthworks

Описание к видео Stormwater Retention Pond Earthworks

Stormwater retention ponds gradually fill up with sediments.

Drone surveying is a very efficient tool to estimate the quantity of these sediments and to decide if earthworks are required to remove the dirt.

With that, here is what you’ll learn in this video.

First, we demonstrate how the retention pond works using the elevation model that we produced from a drone survey. We gradually rise the water level until it reaches the overflow.

Then, we calculate that 22% of the storage capacity of the retention pond is lost.

Next, we calculate the earthworks that need to be done to restore the retention capacity. In order to get a proper estimate, we create holes in the original design surface to exclude areas that are handled by a different contractor.

Finally, a drone survey from December 2019 allows us to inspect the executed earthworks. We compare the design surface with the drone survey. The threshold in the cut/fill map allows to identify the areas that aren’t within the threshold. These areas can be inspected with the customer.
