In this lecture I lay out the basics of the Gospel, i.e., how we are all sinners, cannot save ourselves, and must turn in faith to Jesus Christ, who did for us what we never could do for ourselves. I show five reasons why it is impossible for anyone to do enough “good deeds” or perform other actions to save him or herself and why God could not just say “I forgive you,” but had to go to the cross in the person of Jesus. I conclude by discussing the implications of the Gospel for our lives.
