Mount Yen Tu situated at 1,068m d'altitude and only 50km west of Halong Bay. It is part of Dong Trieu mountain range. Its peaceful beauty is hardly been touched by tourists. King Tran Nhan Tong (1258 - 1307), a warrior, diplomat, poet and theologist devoted to Buddha and made Yen Tu the true sanctuary of Vietnamese Buddhism. He is one of the most endearing figures of Vietnamese history and culture. It will take you about 2 hours by cable - car and walking steps to reach Dong Pagoda at 1,068m d'altitude, the largest bronze mountain top temple in Asia, by passing many pagodas and beautiful scenery.
