Of course, probably the most popular place to head to is The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, where you can view art by some of the world’s most famous sculptors and painters. You can also dive deep into the history of the famous Ringling Bros. Circus, which started wintering over in Sarasota in the late 1920s. Add a touch of class to your holiday and wander around the beautifully [reserved Victorian-era Howey Mansion, or pay a visit to the Sarasota Classic Car Museum. Do you love getting into the great American outdoors? There’s no better place to do that than in tropical Florida! One of the things to do in Sarasota in the wilderness is head to Myakka River State Park. It’s one of the biggest and oldest parks in the state, stretching out over 58 square miles.

There are all kinds of diverse habitats to hike through: wetlands and lakes to pinelands and prairies. We also highly recommend the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. You can walk through carefully curated grounds of bamboo, orchids, ferns, and mangroves by the amateur gardener that gave the spot its namesake. Prefer something more urban? Sarasota has you covered there, too! Jump on a vintage trolley and tour the entire town or head to St. Armands Circle for a spot of shopping—grab dinner at one of the delicious restaurants there, too. You could also pull up a chair on the sand at one of the many beaches—we recommend Siesta or Lido—and read a book or simply nap in the sun. There on the weekend? Head to Sarasota Farmers Market on Saturday morning and grab your locally grown breakfast on the go.
