Okay, this video took me so long. I've been wanting to work with this song since the beginning of September, but I just thought of a good story a couple weeks ago. So, for the sake of this video and story, let's say that Aerith knew that she was going to die when she realized that she had to pray to Holy. KTHX. :)

I decided to submit this to Scyppend Round IV, which I somehow made it to. o__0
Sadly, I wasn't able to finish my original submission, due to lack of inspiration, hiatus, and a lot of other things. I didn't want to give up on the contest though, after spending endless hours on my last four submissions. xD

Story:

Suddenly, everything had changed.

Aerith stood there, stunned, listening to everyone discuss the oncoming Meteor that Sephiroth had summoned to destroy the world. People all around her were preparing for the end.

But, Aerith refused to get ready for an ending.

She knew what she had to do. Clutching the Holy Materia in her hand, she headed for the City of the Ancients. Aerith knew she was the only one who could pray to Holy to stop Meteor, but she would have to pay a heavy price.

The moment Aerith stepped into the forest, she felt that something was with her. She looked up at the full moon, and the face of her lost love, Zack, appeared. He smiled down at her, and Aerith turned away. Then the tears came. She looked up again, but this time the ghostly figure of Zack was standing before her, as if reassuring her that everything was alright. She felt the strength to move on, and she pressed forward.

Memories flooded her mind. Memories of her friends, of the ones she would leave behind. Her friends themselves appeared before her, guiding her toward the Ancient City. She knew she could never look back.

The City. It stood in front of her, tall and still, the lake rippling before it. Aerith was in awe at the sight. She managed to bring herself through the door, and on the path to the altar where she would say goodbye to her friends--and the world. She placed her foot on the platform, and ascended the steps to the altar, without regret.

Aerith knelt down on the altar and folded her hands, praying to Holy. Moments later, she heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Lifting her head, she saw Cloud, who came to rescue her. She smiled at him, as if assuring him that she needed no rescuing. In her final moments, Aerith felt the cold blade pierce through her, the Holy Materia slid out of her hair, Cloud stared in disbelief, and Aerith returned to the LifeStream.
