Few months have passed since the RUTA conference. As we prepare to the next conference, it is a good moment to reflect on the discussions we had, the communities that came together and the collaborations that opened up and were strengthened.
Bringing together over 165 participants from 26 countries, the event featured 41 panels and 9 artistic contributions. Scholars, artists, and activists from institutions across México, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Norway, Poland, Australia, Ukraine, and beyond engaged in much needed conversations on imagination, Romani futures, resistance, justice, documentation of atrocities in Ichkeria, Syria, Mali, the Central African Republic, and Ukraine and many related topics.
We sincerely thank our volunteers, coordinators and RUTA Board Members, who made our gathering possible. The conference team extends its deep gratitude to our partners for their generous support: Uzhhorod National University, the International Renaissance Foundation, Heinrich Böll Foundation Ukraine, Razom for Ukraine, the Mieroszewski Centre, Goethe-Institut Ukraine, House of Europe, Körber Foundation, Ukrainian Studies Fund, and the Kyiv School of Economics.
This year’s conference offered an invaluable opportunity for transregional dialogues, re-imagining, solidarity and community. We remain committed to the fostering of these foundations to make the next RUTA conference even more impactful.
