Star Trek Ambience In a 1980s Living Room - Leonard Nimoy Star Trek TV Special

This is a vintage living room, clearly belonging to a Star Trek obsessed person in 1984. At least that's what I imagine. Enjoy my Star Trek inspired ambience video.

I've been wanting to create a version of my 3D living room with a Star Trek theme. I filled the space with some of the Trek oddities that I was obsessed with in my youth. Star Trek The Role Playing Game, "Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise", "Star Trek Compendium", and a handful of novels, like "How Much for Just The Planet?" by John M. Ford. And of course, a Yeoman Janice Rand publicity / pin-up photo. It's an idealized space that I didn't exactly have when I was a kid, loving Star Trek, but I wished I'd had.

On the screen, we've got a TV special from 1984, hosted by Leonard Nimoy, called "Star Trek Memories". It features Nimoy telling stories and showing clips from The Original Series. We recorded this on VHS when I was a kid, just as I was becoming obsessed with Star Trek. The station that broadcast it locally was WPBT Channel 2, our PBS station. I added a period correct WPBT station clip right at the beginning, just for me.

This ambience video is best enjoyed on a TV screen, rather than your phone or computer screen.

I used Blender to create and render the scene. I used After Effects for the animation and lighting effects.

The detailed USS Enterprise model sitting on the TV was created by Wholock on Sketchfab.
