A little robin comes my way

Last night Miss Badger crossed the road
She was nearly killed stone cold
Tried to cross a busy road
Now she won’t cross any more

Did you hear about Mister Fox?
Chased by hounds and almost caught
Ran for miles in the cold deep snow
Hasn’t come home and is hiding low

Caught her leg in a metal snare
Left five babies all alone

Someone drained his little bog

'Songs for our Children' was devised and coordinated by Aileen Lambert and Michael Fortune with the support of the Arts Council, NLI, The Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and Local Authorities in Limerick, Tipperary, Clare, Wexford, Kildare, Meath, Galway, Fingal, Louth and Waterford. The project focused on the creation of a new body of songs in the traditional style for children and young people. The twelve singers/writers involved in this project are Roisín Ní Ghallóglaigh (Meath), Anne Rynne (Kildare), Noirín Lynch (Clare), Sandra Joyce (Limerick), Karan Casey (Waterford), James McDonald (Wexford), Catherine Ann Cullen (Louth), Máire Ní Chrónín (Dublin), Ceara Conway (Galway), Larry Joy (Tipperary) and Aileen Lambert/Michael Fortune (Wexford). Two young singers also featured in the premier concert on May 18th 2018 in St Aidan's PS, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford; Nellie Fortune and Fintan McKenna.
