The Njuri Ncheke council of elders has today ousted its leadership in a highly charged meeting that was attended by over 1,000 men. The men-only affair was held at the Nchuri shrine where those present voted for new leaders through acclamation. The rather angry lot accused the current leaders of commercializing Njuri Ncheke at the expense of the welfare of the Ameru community.
