A Brief History of Western Landscape Painting

Описание к видео A Brief History of Western Landscape Painting

In the West, landscape painting emerged as a genre rather late compared to the East. In this video, we will quickly look at how artists have represented the world through landscape painting, evolving from representational to impressionistic and even moving towards abstraction. This will be traced from how artists initially used landscapes as settings for their narrative paintings, to the Renaissance, to the Dutch Golden Age, to Baroque and Rococo, the Neo-Classicism period, the Romantic movement, to Impressionism and modern movements such as Cubism, Fauvism, Expressionism and Surrealism. We will also look at contemporary artists that continue to evolve the genre.
