Rapper Travis Scott and Astroworld Festival promoter Live Nation have hired renowned lawyers to defend them against a pile of suits that continue to mount against individuals and parties involved in organizing and executing the Nov. 5 festival performance in Houston. During the event, panic in the crowd caused a surge that resulted in the deaths of 10 concert-goers and injuries to hundreds more.

"Travis is devastated by the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld Festival and grieves for the families whose loved ones died or were injured," Petrocelli wrote in the email. "Travis is committed to doing his part to help the families who have suffered and begin the long process of healing in the Houston community. Toward that end, Travis would like to pay for the funeral expenses for Mr. Blount's son."

Blount's family rejected Scott's offer, per Texas Lawbook, and Hilliard responded to Petrocelli with a message stating that the "journey ahead will be painful" for the rapper.

More than 120 Astroworld lawsuits identifying about 600 plaintiffs have been filed in Harris County district courts seeking damages in excess of $3 billion, according to Texas Lawbook. Two of the largest include a $750 million lawsuit from Houston lawyer Tony Buzbee and a $2 billion lawsuit from San Antonio-based attorney Thomas J. Henry.
