Exploring Barmouth Junction Railway Station - Morfa Mawddach - abandoned platforms

Описание к видео Exploring Barmouth Junction Railway Station - Morfa Mawddach - abandoned platforms

A look around Barmouth Junction Railway Station in Wales.

Opened in 1865, it was the spot where the Cambrian Coast mainline met the GWR Ruabon branch. It lay across the Mawddach estuary from the seaside resort of Barmouth.

The station was renamed Morfa Mawddach in 1960, and by 1965 the one time five platform station was reduced to just a single platform after the Ruabon branch was closed.

Today, the station is a halt with a single platform. Two former platform faces survive and a former trackbed is now the Mawddach Trail footpath.

Filmed 7th January 2024.
