This is the second time landing with the drouge, the camera was dead the first time. I'm still learning it.
As expected, it does very little at low speeds and its effect rapidly gets stronger with more speed. There is some turbulence that clearly effects the drouge more than me.

This approach is much higher and wider than normal for me. There is a noticeable decrease in glide on the base leg. Once I turn final I can see that I am on glide for the cone, since I still have height I put on more speed to see what happens. For a moment the glide path steepens enough that I realize that I will not make the field and quickly adjust my speed to get a glide that will hit the grass (I think I could still go for the cone if I slow a little). I got a little low to use my feet, so I use the round out to correct the height and give a little moonrun. Notice that there is no popup from excess energy and that the short distance in ground effect is extended by the run. The run was mostly unnecessary and because of the run the flare was also unnecessary.

The round out and landing is interesting because there is less excess energy and everything seems to take the same amount of time yet less distance is covered, which gives you the perception of things being slower and smoother. It really slows things down and makes it easy.

I added a comparison of a landing at similar speeds. The approach is closer and lower, and you can see how much more space is taken in ground effect.

With the drouge approximately 60-70' was used in ground effect (extended by the run). A typical landing at similar airspeeds for me is 200-400'

Clearly I can come in much steeper, so that is a goal for next time.
