Vultures: How they aid Vialism amongst other things (twenty one pilots theory/explainer)

Vultures. In the Trench universe they seem to be the only connection between life in Dema and life in the outside. They are the only symbol that is revered by both sides despite their differences in beliefs.

Why?

Why are these animals so important to the people of this story? And does understanding their importance help to vasten our understanding of the events of trench, Dema, vialism and everything in between?

The vultures have been, in my opinion, heavily overlooked within the Dema universe that can help to explain the finer details of the story - for example, what do the bishops do with the bodies they possess once they have fully degraded?
