Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, California, July 26, 2010
1. Zoom out to moving robotic eyes
2. Medium of moving robot
3. Various of moving robot
4. Various of robotic hand
5. Set up Terrance Masson, SIGGRAPH 2010 Conference Chair from Northeastern University
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Terrance Masson, SIGGRAPH 2010 Conference Chair from Northeastern University
"Well the great thing is that we've got the beginning, medium and end point to all this technology, meaning the technical researchers who write this stuff and it's not going to be viable for at least five years, brand new right out of the brain, at the other end we have the exhibition floor with the consumer ready products that you can buy literally right here at the show. At the emerging technologies, robotics expedition is the things that are not quite ready. They are a few years away from hitting the consumer but they are cutting edge beyond cutting edge robotics, new interaction techniques and those are the things that people come away with, really excited about and they will be able to get in a couple of years."
7. Sign for Acroban The Humanoid
6. Zoom out of robot
7. Zoom out of robot moving arms
8. Wide of walking robot
9. Wide of spectators looking at robot
10. Tilt down of robot swinging its arms
11. Tilt up of robots rotating hips and arms
12. Close up of robots mechanism
13. SOUNDBITE (English) Preston Smith, SIGGRAPH 2010 Emerging Technologies chair from Laureate for Brain Research:
"This does look like a robot we have seen in the past, in that it is a typical structure of a robot, except that this one is actually utilising true human body type movements with a spine and hip joint movement. It's actually able to correct itself instead of toppling over as the past robots have done. This one actually has true movements almost like a developing child."
14. Zoom out of giant moving eye
15. Zoom out of poster about the robotic eye
16. Medium of two robotic eyes moving
17. Close up of hand moving joystick controller
18. Zoom out of person waving at eyes
19. Zoom out of the robotic eye booth
20. Close up of eye poster
21. Set up Lanny Smoot, Walt Disney research
22. SOUNDBITE (English) Lanny Smoot, Walt Disney research:
"The electromagnetic eye is a whole new way to allow our robots, the animatronics in the theme parks to be able to see and interact with guests. In the past, we did have robots whose eyes could move but they couldn't see so as a result we wound up with not as much interactivity and personal contact as we would liked to have with guests. But imagine in the future, an eye that allows that animatronic to see, to react, to notice the clothes that let's say one of our guests is wearing at the theme parks and to be able to provide a new way of talking to our guests."
23. Medium of robotic hand picking up item
24. Various of robotic arm moving
25. Zoom out of robotic arm being adjusted by technicians
26. Medium of computer monitor of robotic arm graphic
27. Pullout of monitor to wide of robotic moving arm
28. SOUNDBITE (English) Preston Smith, SIGGRAPH 2010 Emerging Technologies chair from Laureate for Brain Research
"This is a Gesture Capture Robotic arm response so it's actually utilising a camera to capture a human's response of an arm and giving the robotic arm a response like the exact movements. This is much faster response than any of the past robotic arms reacting to actual capture of an arm."
29. Medium of attendees at demonstration
30. Zoom out of computer tablet
31. Set up of Ksenia Benifand
