In April 2019, our newest fire engine arrived in Moscow to replace the aging Engine 27. This Pierce Saber Engine was custom fabricated in Brandenton, Florida. Of the $545,472 cost, $289,000 came from a Community Development Block Grant through the Idaho Department of Commerce. The City of Moscow financed the remainder through ongoing strategic planning initiatives.

Engine 27 will be joining the recently purchased Engine 26 in service. This generation of fire engines features:
- A 6 person cab with an internal communications system
- Pumping capacity of 1,500 gallons per minute
- State-of-the-art foam system
- Increased storage capacity
- Instant chains for inclement weather
- Onboard generator

The new engines are anticipated to serve our community for the next 20 years.
