Under the patronage of the Honorable Chuck Hagel, the 24th U.S. secretary of defense, the Arab Gulf States Institute in Washington and the Chicago Project on Security and Threats hosted the high-level briefing: “Understanding Global Political Violence: Implications for the Middle East and the West.”

Building on the success of the Chicago Project on Security and Threats’ 2020 review, CPOST researchers and guests presented findings and insights into political violence across the globe for 2021. Subsequent discussions focused on practical implications, strategies, and policies.
