Ferry from Malé to Maafushi Island

The ferries to farther islands range from $3 to $20 each way and can take up to several hours. The Ferry Ticket from Male to Maafushi Island costs $3 or MVR 53 one way, and the ride take 90 minutes. The boat moves quite slowly. If you don't mind the harsh sunlight, you can go to upper deck. The view of the blue sea is really nice, and sometimes you can see herd of dolphin following the boat.

Ferries to Maafushi Island departs from Villingili Ferry Terminal in Male. Villingili Ferry Terminal is about 1 KM away from our hostel in Male, so we got a taxi to the ferry terminal with a fee of MVR 45 (about USD$3). Our boat departs at 10:00am. Note: Ferry to Maafushi does not run on Friday.

Public ferry connects Male City to other islands and provinces including Maafushi, Gulhi and Guraidhoo in South Atoll. Public transport (ferry and bus) in Maldives is operated by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company PLC.
