This Attakkatha was written by Chengannur Muringoor Matthom Sankaran Potty (20th Century). Main characters in this kathakali are SriKrishna and his wife Rugmini, his classmate Kuchela and his wife. Bhakthibhavam is prominent all through this aattakkatha.
Kuchela was from a poor family and is in poverty. Not even having enough money to feed his children, his wife reminded him of his friendship with Krishna who is King of Dwaraka. After completion of their studies under Maharshi Sandeepani, they had not met. Kuchela wonders what gift he could take to his old friend. He leaves with some beaten rice tied in a cloth as a present to Krishna. Krishna is greatly pleased to see his old friend. Krishna embraces his boyhood friend Kuchela and leads him into the palace. Receiving him in the traditional way with pooja and washing his feet. Then in deep conversation about their boyhood days, Krishna eagerly takes beaten rice, a mouthful, and proceeds to eat more. But Rugmini stops him and departs taking his torn umbrella and walking stick. But the Lord realises what his friend needs. When Kuchela finally returns to his home, he finds a Palace instead of the hut he had left.
