How To Prevent Nicks and Cuts while Shaving with a Safety Razor

Hey everyone, Brian here bringing you another TRC quick tip video on preventing nicks and cuts during your DE razor shave.

There are many factors to consider when shaving with a DE safety razor to get a smooth efficient shave. In this video I go over two important factors with regards to shaving technique. By following these tips hopefully you can help minimize or eliminate nicks and cuts during your shave.

1. Razor angle
Proper razor angle when you place the razor against your face is necessary to get a smooth shave. Start with a 30 degree angle to your face and adjust as necessary so that the top cap and base plate are aligned flush against your skin.

2. Pressure
Proper pressure on the razor when you place it against your face is important in helping eliminate nicks and cuts. Too much pressure can result in the razor blade cutting into your face. You only need enough pressure so that the razor is firm against your skin but not pushing into your skin.
