April Showers Bring May Flowers | Shot on 16mm Film | Bolex H16

This is my second 16mm short film called “April Showers Bring May Flowers.” It was shot entirely on 16mm motion-picture film using a Bolex H16 Rex-5, which has been converted to Super 16. This film highlights this year’s transition from April into May documenting the spring rain followed by the blossoming flowers in May. Along with the seasonal changes, I wanted to show the stark contrast between different aspects of the city. Not only do April showers literally bring May flowers, but figuratively the phrase can also be a subtle reminder that while some things may seem unpleasant (such as a rainy day or gritty parts of the city) they can also lead to enjoyment and be appreciated through a different perspective.
