South Central Arizona Railfanning

Spring break trips during high school were always a chance to get away from home and go somewhere exotic, a change in pace from hectic classes to just sit back and relax. Often times those trips would be accompanied by a large amount of railfanning, most of the time out of state. Last year, I went on a road trip through Arizona and California, stopping by Tucson and Yuma on the Sunset Route. This spring break, I came home from the surprisingly warm winter I had at college in Michigan and, the next day, headed out with my father to South-Central Arizona. Over the course of our trip, we covered hundreds of miles, from the peaks of Copper Country to the lowlands of the Colorado Desert, and everything in between. Featured in this video are trains working their way across the vast and inhospitable Colorado Desert in and around Yuma, Arizona, the magnificent scenery of Dome Valley, the Copper Country of Central Arizona, and much more! Trains seen include freshly repainted engines from UP's Jenks shops in North Little Rock (including two on the lead), plenty of AC4400CTE's, ES44AC's and AH's, SD70ACe's, SD70M's, even a trio of SD40N's on a Phoenix to Tucson manifest! Power on the shortlines consists of beautiful B40-8's on the Arizona and Eastern, and a fleet of GP39-2's and GP40-2's on the Copper Basin Railway!!
