Although he wasn't around every week, H.B. Bailey was instantly recognizable once he walked through the gates of the Winston Cup garage.

Scraggly beard ... cigar ... jewelry ... leather floppy hat or maybe a cowboy hat ... H.B. left quite the impression.

Joe Dan Bailey ... H.B.'s son ... remembers his father as a tough, but fair, mentor. Joe Dan eventually used those lessons learned as a steppingstone to a career in the sport.
