Amatole - the parade

The streets of Joza in Grahamstown were filled with vibrant colours,crazy costumes, cool music, high energy and exciting dance and song. Amathole is a spectacular street theatre parade which draws the audience into its world of life size puppets, astounding elephant characters, drums and contemporary dance. People ran out of their homes and watched in amazement as the street parade and magical elephant puppets came to life around them. Many young Grahamstonians joined in with the street carnival to march alongside the festival production, waving flags and singing the 2010 Fifa World Cup Song.
