Okiku is a haunted doll from Japanese folklore that is said to reside in the Mannenji Temple in Hokkaido, Japan. The story goes that in 1918, a teenager named Eikichi Suzuki bought a large doll from Hokkaido for his younger sister, Okiku, who named the doll after herself. After Okiku died from the flu the following year, her family believed that her spirit inhabited the doll and that the doll's hair grew.
