In TypeScript, both extract and pick are utility types that allow you to create new types based on existing ones, but they serve different purposes and have different behaviors


The Extract utility type is used to extract a subset of types from a union type. It takes two type parameters: the union type and the type you want to extract from it.

It returns a new type that consists only of the members from the union type that are assignable to the second type parameter.

The Pick utility type is used to create a new type by selecting specific properties from an existing type. It takes two type parameters: the original type and a list of property names you want to include in the new type.

It returns a new type that contains only the specified properties from the original type

In summary, Extract is primarily used to extract specific values from a union type, while Pick is used to create a new type by selecting specific properties from an existing type.
