XMF-I Restoration: A Chinese Apple II Clone 35 Years Ago / 极限修复！35年前清华大学研制点错科技树的中文电脑

I have introduced to you in the previous episodes that in the 1990s, the popularization of CEC-I (China Education Computer) contributed to programming learning for young people in China, and also opened the prelude to the introduction of computers into families. In fact, there is another brother model of CEC-I that is also developed by Tsinghua University, but it is little known. That is XMF-I (小蜜蜂/Little Bee). This time, I got a XMF-I in poor condition. I would try to see if it can be repaired, and explore its mysteries with everyone.

The XMF-I is a very unique Apple II clone. It relies on the independent Z80 Chinese subsystem, and its Chinese ability surpasses most of the Chinese computers at that time, but its shortcomings are also obvious. There is no floppy drive interface and you can't directly use the Apple II expansion card. You need to connect the expansion cabinet through the expansion port first. Excessive pursuit of Chinese ability, using Z80 to handle Chinese (increasing the cost), and needs to buy expansion cabinets (increasing additional costs), which makes the total cost of ownership of the little bee (the cost of being able to play floppy disk games) becomes Very High, I think this is the main reason for market failure.

小蜜蜂学习机是一台很有特色的学习机，它依靠独立的Z80中文子系统，中文能力超越了当时绝大多数的中文电脑，但它的缺点也很明显，主机上没有没有软驱接口，也不能直插Apple II的扩展卡，需要通过扩展口连接扩展柜才行。过分追求中文能力，用Z80来处理中文（增加主机成本），而普遍的扩展需求则要购买扩展柜（增加额外成本），这使得小蜜蜂的总拥有成本（能打软盘游戏的成本）变得很高，我想这是市场失败的最主要原因吧。
