Building an Off-Grid Log Cabin (NO KIT) : Part 2 - Year 2 & 3 Recap

Описание к видео Building an Off-Grid Log Cabin (NO KIT) : Part 2 - Year 2 & 3 Recap

Welcome back to part 2 of our log cabin build recap! In this video, my dad and I continue our off-grid adventure in the Big Woods of Maine, where we’re building a log cabin from scratch. Over the past 3 years, we’ve made significant progress, and we're excited to share it with you.

In Year 2:

We built wooden platforms for 3 canvas cabin tents from Davis Tent.
A gravel driveway was put in, making access to our property a bit easier.

In Year 3:

The foundation hole was dug, and the basement was poured.
A challenging moment arrived when it rained right after excavation, causing the foundation hole to partially cave in. Thank you to Morril Excavation from Rangeley, Maine for persevering through the difficult weather and getting the job done!
As we wrap up this chapter, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve purchased our logs, which will be delivered to our remote property in May 2024. Big things are coming!

Stay tuned for more updates on our log cabin journey. This project is part of our dream to have an off-grid escape from civilization and all its stress, and have a reliable homestead in the Maine wilderness using traditional building methods like the butt and pass technique, learned from the Log Home Builder's Association.
