Notes: This was a burlesque of the £150 Revue show – claiming it was even cheaper and offering more austerity in response to official requests. The show opens with a rehearsal as the performers prepare for their individual sketches. These include a Marchioness and a Duke wheeling a pram-full of food and carrying a suitcase of coals to cope with the shortages; a scene called “Goodbye Madam Fashion” with Lee White dressed in old newspapers; a serious number with an aristocratic lady working on the land while her husband fights in France; a comedy sketch with Beatrice Lillie as a Canadian Tommy; a Japanese garden scena; and Lee White as Bairnsfather’s Old Bill, while she and Beatrice Lillie throw Old Bill dolls into the audience. Gertrude Lawrence was employed as a general understudy in this show and went on at various times in various roles, earning particular notice when she covered for Beatrice Lillie.
Second edition: From December 3rd Lee White was replaced with Teddie Gerard and Walter Williams joined the cast. At this point Gertrude Lawrence had been given a solo song and a duet with Beatrice Lillie.
