Kerala's government has released travel guidelines for international air travellers. The Kerala Health Department has announced that only NRIs and foreign visitors with COVID symptoms would be tested for Coronavirus. According to State Health Minister Veena George, the revised travel rules were established based on expert panel recommendations.

The current travel standards require all overseas visitors to self-monitor their symptoms for the duration of their stay in Kerala. Those found symptomatic will be subjected to an RT-PCR test. The rule also states that 2% of all international flight arrivals will be randomly tested, regardless of their origin country.

According to reports, airline officers would choose the passengers. International travelers are recommended to be quarantined at home for 7 days. If they show symptoms, they must be tested.

As previously reported, Kerala mandated visitors from ‘at-risk' nations to complete a seven-day home quarantine. The Kerala Government has also made the RT-PCR test mandatory for visitors from Omicron-affected countries.

Kerala's daily COVID-19 infection rate continues to fall. The state health agency has 352399 active COVID-19 cases, of which just 3% required hospitalization.
