TRANSCRIPT:
In this short video, I'm going to show you how to use an animation effect to be able to have a jet fighter fly through the air, in an iMovie sequence, as you see here.
What we're going to do is find an appropriate plane. We need to have one that is actually moving or facing in the correct direction, that we're going to fly. Now go to the application "Preview". You'll see that it has a blue background. We need to remove that blue background and in "Preview".
There are a number of different ways of doing this. We could take the blue background out by simply clicking on this tool here. We drag over the image,
you'll see that the blue is being removed. The pink is going to be transparent. The problem with this is that when you get to the areas around the tail that it's not going to remove the blue before it starts to remove some of the actual plane itself. So you can see the fuselage and the tailplane there has actually gone red. This means that will go transparent as well.
What we will use though, is this here, and you can see smart lasso. Now, this is much more accurate So we're going to select the smart lasso.
I'm going to start on this corner here, and as I drag over - you need to be as accurate as you
can on this. That it will give you a good key. What we need to do - I'm not great with the mouse.
I'm missing a bit here, but as we drag through here, you'll see that you need to get as close as
you can to the actual fuselage of the plane. Just spending a little bit of time on it - but if
you do miss some just come back and it will pick that up. The key to it is to make sure that you
keep those blue areas in there out of it. As I haven't done there. We'll just see how it turns out.
You can always do it again if it doesn't turn out the first time. We move here and then
we've got this little bit at the end - then down here - and we're back to where we started.
It's even picked up some of those blues that the previous operation wouldn't do so what we'll do with this is we're going to cut it that's
command x. so there are some little items there but as I said earlier because it's going to be so small in the picture you're not going to notice it.if we put this into iMovie then it's entirely
the wrong shape so the secret to this is let's go back to this clip here and we'll remove all of
the items there so i completely remove those and i'm going to delete those out and now I'm going
to paste back the actual plane that we copied because it was still sitting on the clipboard
and now we have a little bit of clear area around the plane even though it looks white here it is
actually going to be transparent so the next step is to export this and we're going to export it
and we need to either export it as a png or a tiff and we need to make sure that this
alpha is selected so now let's change that and we'll call that plane fixed
.
