There are two elements that create transparency quilts: design and color/fabric selection. From a design perspective, transparency is first and foremost about overlapping shapes. From the color/fabric selection perspective, transparency quilts play with the subtleties of fabric values to create layered, transparent effects. In this video, I share how I evaluate fabric value when I am selecting fabric for a quilting project and how it has helped me make better fabric choices even when I am not making a transparency design.

Note that I demonstrate how to convert a photo to grayscale using Photoshop Elements and my iPad (to represent mobile devices). Software updates happen all the time, so this video should be used as a general guideline to give you tools and knowledge of what to look for when using your desired software and devices.
