Rayman 2: The Great Escape is a jump-and-run platformer in a colorful dark cartoon fantasy setting. It was praised as one of the few franchises to master the jump to 3D with regards to both visuals and controls. Its gloomy atmosphere has earned it a special place among the otherwise more light-hearted entries in the series. The funk-inspired soundtrack by Eric Chevalier has shaped my taste in music like few other albums in my childhood have, and remains one of my favorites to this day.
