After purchasing our 28-foot Catalina boat, the previous owner generously treated us to a day of sailing on Lake Michigan, allowing us to test the rigging and practice docking. The following weekend, our focus shifted to spring cleaning the boat, Inside and out. Simultaneously, we took inventory of what was on the boat for our trip home.

The next Friday, we headed down to Reef Pointe Marina with the intention of setting sail on Saturday. However, the weather forecast predicted a North wind with 2-4 foot waves in the coming days, which didn't seem fun. We decided to postpone our departure until Sunday, hopeful that the wind would shift as predicted for Monday. Fortunately, our plan went off without a hitch, and the wind changed direction as expected.
