During his time in office, former president Ma Ying-jeou went by the "three noes" policy, vowing that he would not declare independence, not accept unification, nor use force to resolve cross-strait issues. This week, Ma proposed an updated version. In his new proposal, or the "new three noes," he says that, in fact, Taiwan should rather "not OPPOSE unification."
