Preparing your face for shaving is arguably as important as the shave itself. Start with either a hot shower or soaking your face with a hot towel. This softens your beard stubble, which is important for increasing blade life and decreasing any discomfort or irritation afterward. Next, use hot water to heat your shave bowl and wet your brush bristles. Use 3 parts shaving cream and 1 part water in the bowl to whip up your lather. Mix it like you're stirring pancake batter.
