Home Office has 'no idea' where 17,000 asylum seekers are, MPs hear

A Home Office official has confirmed he 'does not know' what has happened to most of the 17,000 people whose asylum applications were withdrawn between September 2022 and September 2023. The comments came in response to a question by the Conservative MP Tim Loughton during a home affairs committee hearing.
