We all go through times when we feel the need to take a break from Facebook. The news can be overwhelming sometimes. Let’s be honest and admit that Facebook is also a major time suck. I’ve been using a Google Chrome extension for the last few months that has help with the Facebook time suck and I want to tell you about it. If you don’t have Google Chrome you will need to download it first.
Kill Newsfeed allows you to turn off all the noise on facebook but still allows you to get personal messages, notifications, post on your timeline and visit groups if you want to. It’s been great for me and I’ve been able to reclaim hours of my day back (sad but true).
The chrome extension is easy to use and does exactly what it says it will do. I try to keep my Facebook use to groups and updating my own page and group. It’s all still a work in process but I feel confidant that this app will keep me focused and on task.
I don’t know about you but I need complete focus or I get sidetracked very easily. There are other things that I’m doing to stay on task also. I have recently added Coschedule to my list of blogging tricks. There is an option to add tasks so I can make sure I have everything I need before posting.
I’m getting off topic. So, the Kill Newsfeed app will stay active until you remove it from Google Chrome. I hope that they put an easy on/off switch for the app in the future. The only complaint I have is that it needs to be removed and re-added from the Chrome store.
