Pingle, known as "Pingluo" in ancient times, has a history of 2,000 years. It is 78km from Chengdu, through which the Qionglai-Mingshan Expressway runs. It is "the first stop on the Southern Silk Road for people heading west after leaving Chengdu," the "first town on the ancient Tea-Horse Road," and a "Noted Chinese Town of History and Culture."

Reputed as "an ancient town in the Qin and Han Dynasties and a waterside place in western Sichuan", Pingle Ancient Town exhibits its ancient presence - the ancient streets, temples, trees, paths, bridges, styles, residences, workshops, weirs, and songs. Tianfu's rustic landscape and history (Land of Abundance) are reflected in the towering old trees beside the Baimo River, stilted buildings along the watercourse, and paved roads with the imprint of age.

We spent a lovely afternoon in this ancient town. The most exciting part was taking a bamboo boat on the river! Walking in this town was a very comfortable experience.
