The Roland JP-08 doesn't get enough love, because people feel it doesn't sound enough like the Jupiter-8 that is 50x more expensive. Once you leave that thought behind, it becomes a lovely sounding baby synth at a decent price. For a classic synth layout, it is really versatile and deep due to the interesting (cross)mod and layering possibilities (especially when compared to the other Boutiques). Just don't expect a Jupiter-8 and appreciate what you DO get instead!

Here's a little demo showing the JP-08's bassline possibilities. Spiced up with a Strymon BigSky and Timeline. Sequenced and recorded using Logic Pro 9.
