At just 16 years old, Matvei (Matvey) Michkov put on a show at the U18 IIHF World Junior Championships, where he scored an astounding 12 goals with 4 assists to combined for 16 points in just 7 games. The Russian winger, despite possessing an NHL-caliber shot, elite hockey sense, and top-level puck handling ability, is still two years away from being eligible for the NHL Draft. He was a top prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft heading into the tournament after a point per game season in the MHL this year (2020-21), and his performance at the U18 WJC only reinforced how impressive he is as a player. The last 16-year-old to score over 10 goals at this tournament was Alex Ovechkin in 2002.
