🎤 Narrative

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is a national monument and tourist attraction erected in memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. It is located in Taipei, Taiwan. The monument, surrounded by a park, stands at the east end of Memorial Hall Square

The monumental memorial to Chaing Kai-Shek sits in front of a grand plaza known as liberty square. Every hour there is a changing of the guard ceremony that takes place in the memorial hall itself which is accessed by walking up the steps in front of the building. Although it was only built in the 1980’s this is Chinese architecture on a grand scale with the National Theatre and Concert Hall sitting either side of the square as well as formal gardens and lake area which is a peaceful place to sit and relax. In the memorial building itself it is worth walking around the side to access various exhibition halls at ground floor level most of which are dedicated to the former leader. A visit needs at least two hours to make the most of what is on offer.
