While travelling to Guilin, I booked the two rivers and four lakes cruise tour for this evening.

There rivers are the Li River and the Toa Hua (Peach Blossom) River. The 4 lakes are the Ronghu Lake, Mulong Lake, Shanhu Lake and Guihu Lake.

The Li River stretches approximately 83 kilometers from Guilin to Yangshuo. The Li River offers views of iconic landmarks like Elephant Trunk Hill and the Nine Horses Fresco Hill.

The Peach Blossom River is a tributary of the Li River. It flows through lush greenery and is especially beautiful during spring when peach blossoms bloom along its banks.

Rong Lake is located in the heart of Guilin and is surrounded by lush gardens, ancient trees, and historical sites. The lake is named after a large banyan tree that stands nearby. It features picturesque bridges, pavilions, and walking paths.

Shan Lake is adjacent to Rong Lake and is known for its iconic Sun and Moon Pagodas (gold and silver), which are illuminated at night and reflect beautifully on the water.

Gui Lake is the largest of the four lakes and is surrounded by lush greenery and karst hills.

Mulong Lake is the smallest of the four lakes and is known for its connection to the ancient city wall of Guilin. The lake area features traditional Chinese architecture, including the Mulong Pagoda, and offers a glimpse into Guilin's historical past.

The Two Rivers and Four Lakes project, completed in the early 2000s, revitalized Guilin's waterways and transformed the city into a top tourist destination.

As usual, the lights around as we cruised were spectacular. I was expecting to be in a large boat, but it was a smallish boat and we were initially confined inside the boat, which was disappointing. But when we arrived at a scenic spot we were allowed out on the back, but it was only a very small area. This was when the photographer encouraged people to have their photo taken so that he can make some money, I guess. I stayed out until we had to go back in when the boat went into the 2nd lock. After that, there wasn’t too much to see as we were near docking point.

I shall have a better view tomorrow of the area. This evening I was more interested in the lights and it was something to do. I had my coat on and was comfortable. It was about 9C. The weather hasn’t been great the past week. Hopefully it will be a bit brighter tomorrow.
