First up I want to say I am not considering the DJI FPV system a 'PROPER' FPV system... Obviously with all the safety features, limitations and repairs costs there was always going to be a progression to the more reasonable and repairable FPV systems.

In this series I will be taking you on on journey through the process of purchasing, setting up and flying my first proper FPV drone. I have chosen the iFlight ProTek35HD cinewhoop drone as the first victim. Sit down, relax and come learn how to get started with FPV in Australia.

After setting up the iFlight ProTek35HD and trouble-shooting broken parts it is time to head outside and TEST FLY this thing! By this time I had spent a couple of weeks (about 4-5 hours a week) flying in the simulator and felt pretty comfortable there but I knew that the 'real-world' physics were going to be another challenge.

For my first flight I left the drone in 'Angle Mode' to go easy on myself. In retrospect I can honestly say 'Angle Mode' caused more problems for me as you will see...

Bare with me... I am a total novice to FPV but what I am trying to demonstrate is what you will need to do if you have been thinking about getting into FPV and just wondered, "Where do I start?". Hopefully this helps!
