welcome to Des Moines, Iowa! we had the pleasure of visiting for the weekend and we're taking you with! join us as we show you all the fun and exciting things to do in Des Moines and its vicinity with kids!

our trip starts off by checking into Hotel Renovo, a Hilton Tapestry hotel located in Urbandale, IA. A short 15 minute drive from main downtown/Des Moines

first stop, Blank Park Zoo.. despite the zoo being its own attraction, for a limited time, the zoo is having Wild Lights Festival, bringing you 50 asian illuminated lanterns replicating various animals, plants and insects. expect to spend 60-90 minutes here. For an upcharge, you can also book an igloo
which comes equipped with s'mores kit and hot chocolate!

Next day, we hit up Drake Diner.. as soon as we pulled up, they had a line out the door! after ordering and eating, we knew why! everything was on point and tasted amazing. Would highly recommend this place. the ambience, service and food were 10/10

right after, we went to the greater Des Moines botanical garden .. a large open space featuring so many plants, trees and more.

on the same day we also went to the Science Center where the kids had an amazing time and finished up our day at Spare Time, an entertainment center . Here you can bowl, laser tag, arcades, food and more!

our final day, started off with getting breakfast at Machine Shed..
right after we drove out to Boone, Iowa, about 45 min from our hotel. Here they have Rail Explorers, you get on a pedal/electric powered cart and pedal your way on the railway! This route is 12.5 miles round trip and a little over 2 hours long. one of the seats has pedal assist with an electric motor so if you're tired of pedaling, let the driver handle it (they can also control the brakes).

Near by is also Jester park.. golfing, playground, wildlife.

finally, finished our trip off by going to Destination Grille before we head on home!
